Summer Camp Director
Description
The Ontario Learning Development Foundation (OLDF) is seeking an experienced, organized, and enthusiastic Camp Director to lead the 2026 Achievers Summer Learning Camp in Brampton.
OLDF is a registered Canadian charity committed to transforming communities through integrated educational and community-response empowerment initiatives for children, youth, newcomers, seniors, and families. Our programs promote academic enrichment, inclusion, leadership, healthy child development, and positive community engagement.
The Achievers Learning Camp provides children with a safe, inclusive, engaging, and developmentally supportive environment where they can learn, build friendships, develop confidence, and have fun throughout the summer.
The Camp Director plays a key leadership role in ensuring that all aspects of camp operations are safe, organized, inclusive, and aligned with the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development.
Role Summary
The Camp Director provides overall leadership, supervision, and quality assurance of the summer camp program, ensuring alignment with the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and OLDF’s mission to deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging programming.
This role ensures that all aspects of the program are intentionally designed and delivered to support the healthy development of children through safe, inclusive, and high-quality experiences.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision of staff, campers, volunteers, and daily camp operations across assigned site(s)
- Participate in staff hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervision
- Ensure all camp programming aligns with the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development, including:
- Participation
- Play
- Mastery
- Friends
- A Caring Adult
- Lead staff training, coaching, mentorship, and performance management
- Support staff in activity delivery, behaviour management, camper engagement, and supervision practices
- Monitor health, safety, supervision, and risk management protocols
- Oversee:
- Camper supervision ratios
- Attendance and sign-in/sign-out procedures
- Incident reporting and documentation
- Emergency response procedures
- Program quality and staff performance
- Conduct daily program oversight and quality assurance checks
- Act as the primary liaison with parents/guardians and support family communication
- Support behaviour management using positive and developmentally appropriate approaches
- Coordinate special events, theme days, and camp-wide programming initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all OLDF Staff Manual policies, procedures, supervision standards, and safety expectations
- Model professionalism, leadership, teamwork, maturity, and positive conduct at all times
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in:
- Education
- Child Development
- Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Child & Youth Care
- Social Work
- Recreation
- Psychology
- Or a related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience in camps, schools, youth programming, recreational settings, or community programs
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and mentor youth staff and volunteers
- Positive attitude, professionalism, maturity, and high energy level
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
Required Certifications & Screening
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid Emergency First Aid & CPR-C certification (or higher)
- Hold HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification
- Hold HIGH FIVE® Quest 2 Certification or be willing to obtain certification prior to camp
- Participate in mandatory pre-camp training sessions
- Applicants who are 18 years of age or older must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment
Employment Details
- Number of Positions: 1
- Rate of Pay: $17.90/hour
- Hours: 30–35 hours per week
- Employment Start Date: June 15, 2026
- Camp Dates: June 29 – August 14, 2026
- Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8:45 AM – 3:30 PM
- Mandatory training and pre-camp planning will take place prior to the start of camp

Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
