Description
The Ontario Learning Development Foundation (OLDF) is seeking creative, organized, and detail-oriented youth and recent graduates to join our publications and digital media team as Graphic Designers.
OLDF is a registered Canadian charity committed to transforming communities through integrated educational and community-response empowerment initiatives for children, youth, newcomers, seniors, and families. Our programs promote education, youth empowerment, storytelling, leadership, digital engagement, and community development.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong graphic design, branding, and visual storytelling skills who are interested in supporting publications, digital media campaigns, social engagement, and community-focused creative projects.
Successful candidates will create graphics and visual assets for multiple publications, magazine editions, websites, and social media campaigns while collaborating closely with editors, managing editors, writers, and creative teams.
Role Summary
The Graphic Designer supports the visual branding and creative development of OLDF publications, websites, and digital media projects.
This role requires creativity, responsiveness, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously.
Core Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and create graphics based on editorial, publication, and digital media requirements
- Design:
- Social media graphics
- Promotional materials
- Publication graphics
- Digital assets
- Illustrations
- Branding materials
- Create visual assets for multiple magazine issues and publication projects simultaneously
- Collaborate with editors, managing editors, writers, and creative teams to support publication and campaign needs
- Develop graphics, illustrations, logos, and branded materials using design software
- Apply appropriate branding, colours, typography, and visual consistency across projects and platforms
- Revise and update graphics based on editorial feedback and project requirements
- Ensure graphics and visual assets are accurate, organized, visually appealing, and aligned with OLDF branding
- Support social media campaigns and digital engagement initiatives
- Participate in team meetings, publication planning sessions, and creative check-ins
- Maintain organized project files, templates, design assets, and archives
- Contribute creative ideas while meeting assigned deadlines and project timelines
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in:
- Graphic Design
- Media Studies
- Communications
- Marketing
- Creative Advertising
- Digital Media
- Or related fields
- Strong graphic design and visual storytelling abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within editorial and creative teams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to respond to feedback effectively
- Proficiency in:
- Canva
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe InDesign
- Or similar design platforms
- Understanding of branding consistency and social media design best practices
- Experience creating graphics for publications, social campaigns, or digital storytelling projects is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of social media platforms including:
- YouTube
- Twitter/X
Employment Details
- Number of Positions: 1
- Rate of Pay: $17.60/hour
- Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week
- Contract End Date: August 15, 2026
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Remote
- Participation in scheduled team meetings and creative check-ins is required
Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
