Summer Job Opportunity: Social Media Coordinator
Description
The Ontario Learning Development Foundation (OLDF) is seeking creative, organized, and highly motivated youth and recent graduates to join our digital engagement team as Social Media Coordinators.
OLDF is a registered Canadian charity committed to transforming communities through integrated educational and community-response empowerment initiatives for children, youth, newcomers, seniors, and families. Our programs promote education, leadership, storytelling, youth empowerment, community engagement, and digital outreach.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong social media, content creation, graphic design, and digital communication skills who are passionate about creating engaging online content and building meaningful digital communities.
Successful candidates will support multiple social media campaigns, publications, programs, and digital initiatives while creating, scheduling, and managing content across several platforms.
Role Summary
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for planning, creating, scheduling, and managing social media content and digital engagement initiatives across OLDF’s platforms and projects.
This role requires creativity, responsiveness, organization, initiative, and the ability to independently create and manage content from concept to publication without relying heavily on others for graphics or post development.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working across multiple campaigns, publications, and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and participating in collaborative team environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and manage social media calendars and digital engagement strategies across multiple platforms including:
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Twitter/X
- Create, design, schedule, and publish content independently using scheduling platforms such as Loomly
- Design graphics, promotional visuals, social media posts, stories, reels, and short-form digital content
- Create engaging multimedia content including:
- Static posts
- Reels
- Video content
- Story graphics
- Promotional campaigns
- Schedule posts and campaigns in advance to support consistent digital engagement
- Support multiple programs, campaigns, publications, and social media initiatives simultaneously
- Write captions, blog posts, promotional content, and digital communications related to education, youth empowerment, and community initiatives
- Monitor comments, messages, and online engagement across platforms
- Engage proactively with audiences to build positive relationships and increase online visibility
- Track social media performance metrics and support reporting and analytics
- Collaborate with editorial teams, graphic designers, program staff, and digital media teams
- Participate in scheduled team meetings, planning sessions, and digital campaign check-ins
- Maintain organized content calendars, project trackers, and scheduling systems
- Contribute creative ideas while ensuring assigned projects and campaigns are completed on schedule
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in:
- Marketing
- Communications
- Journalism
- Public Relations
- Creative Advertising
- Digital Media
- Media Studies
- Or related fields
- Experience using Loomly, Buffer, or similar social media scheduling platforms is required
- Strong understanding of social media strategy, content creation, audience engagement, and platform best practices
- Ability to independently create and manage content from concept to publication
- Strong graphic design and visual storytelling abilities
- Experience creating:
- Reels
- Video content
- Social campaigns
- Promotional graphics
- Digital storytelling content
- Strong working knowledge of:
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Twitter/X
- Preference will be given to candidates with TikTok content creation and video editing experience
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, campaigns, and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work independently while remaining responsive and collaborative within a team environment
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other graphic/video editing platforms is considered an asset
Employment Details
- Number of Positions: 3
- Rate of Pay: $17.80/hour
- Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
- Contract Length: Approximately 2.5 months
- Employment Start Date: May/June 2026
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid / In-Person with Remote Option
- Participation in scheduled team meetings and planning sessions is required
Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
