Description

The Ontario Learning Development Foundation (OLDF) is seeking creative, organized, and self-motivated youth and recent graduates to join our editorial and digital publications team.

OLDF is a registered Canadian charity committed to transforming communities through integrated educational and community-response empowerment initiatives for children, youth, newcomers, seniors, and families. Our programs promote education, leadership, community engagement, youth empowerment, and digital storytelling.

This position is ideal for individuals with strong creative, editorial, digital design, and project coordination skills who are interested in supporting community-based publications, digital media, and youth-focused storytelling initiatives.

Successful candidates will support multiple publications, magazine editions, and digital projects while working collaboratively with the Managing Editor and editorial team to ensure publications are completed, organized, and released on schedule.

Role Summary

The Editorial & Digital Publications Coordinator supports the development, production, organization, and publishing of OLDF’s print and digital publications.
This role requires creativity, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple publication timelines simultaneously.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Managing Editor in overseeing the design, branding, and production of OLDF publications and digital media projects
  • Support the planning, layout, production, and completion of multiple magazine editions and publications
  • Coordinate and manage publication workflow, timelines, revisions, and content organization
  • Ensure assigned publication tasks and editions are completed on schedule
  • Publish and organize digital magazine editions and online publication content
  • Assist with website content updates, formatting, and publication uploads
  • Collaborate with the editorial team in sourcing and organizing:
  • Images
  • Graphic design assets
  • Digital artwork
  • Publication materials
  • Create and support social media campaigns promoting publications and community initiatives
  • Participate in team meetings, editorial planning sessions, and project check-ins
  • Support content scheduling and digital publication planning
  • Maintain organized files, project folders, and publication archives
  • Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, writers, and contributors
  • Support creative storytelling and youth-focused community engagement initiatives


Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Strong creative, editorial, and digital design abilities
  • Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and production timelines
  • Ability to work independently while remaining responsive and accountable within a team environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, time-management, and project coordination skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to complete projects from concept to publication
  • Proficiency in:
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Canva or similar design platforms
  • Experience with:
  • Digital publishing
  • Editorial production
  • Magazine layout/design
  • Social media branding and content creation
  • Video editing and multimedia content creation are considered assets
  • Experience using WordPress or digital publication platforms is considered an asset
  • Passion for youth empowerment, community engagement, and creative storytelling


Employment Details

  • Number of Positions: 2
  • Rate of Pay: $17.80/hour
  • Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 9 weeks
  • Employment Start Date: May 25, 2026
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Remote
  • Participation in scheduled team meetings and editorial check-ins is required


Eligibility Requirements

This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Compensation
